PILOT PROJECTS

PP: 3 - Breath gas analysis to determine biomarkers of Tuberculosis, Tularemia etc.

Donald Blake, Ph.D .
Project period: May 2007 - April 2008

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to determine biomarkers in breath of patients with Tuberculosis.  In our laboratory we can complete trace gas analysis to determine the composition of breath.  We would like to determine presence of disease, in this case, Tuberculosis, by the composition of breath instead of costly and possibly invasive laboratory tests.
