Burkholderia pseudomallei grown on sheep blood agar for 48 hours. An atypical enlarged lymphocyte found in the blood smear from a HPS patient.A salivary gland that had been extracted from a mosquito, which was infected by the Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus, which has been colorized red.  Unidentified mosquito larvae scattered uniformly over a dark background.

Introduction

The overall objective of these cores are to offer a broad array of expertise, technical support and instrumentation to the scientific community that is responding to the national research initiatives in biodefense and emerging infectious disease.

Core facilities are available to all investigators in the Pacific Southwest Region, regardless of institutional affiliation. If you are interested in utilizing any of the cores' services, please contact the principal investigator for that Core.
